From Relic to Revelation: The Art of Repurposing Vintage Antlers
Share
In a world of fast production and fleeting trends, there’s something powerful about working with what’s already endured.
At ATX Antlers, we don’t chase the new — we give new life to the old. Our antler art, crafted right here in Austin, TX, begins not with a blank canvas, but with vintage antlers that have been around for decades — some 30, 50, even 75 years old.
These aren’t freshly shed antlers. These are relics. And they’re where the story begins.
What Are Vintage Antlers?
Unlike shed antlers, which are dropped by deer and elk annually, vintage antlers are often passed down through families, found in old barns, traded among collectors, or salvaged from estates and ranches across the Southwest.
They’ve lived through dust, sun, time, and silence — gaining patina, cracks, and character along the way. Some are polished smooth by handling, others are bleached by decades of Texas sunlight.
We don’t cut that story short. We build on it.
The Creative Process
Every piece of antler art we create starts with observation.
We study the shape, grain, wear, and imperfections — and ask, what does this want to become? Sometimes the antler becomes the sculpture. Sometimes it becomes the frame, the foundation, or the focal point.
From there, we bring in other materials: wood, steel, leather, stone, or resin. Each piece is hand-built, always guided by the natural shape and history of the antler itself.
This is not factory work — it’s intuition, patience, and craft.
Where Art, Nature & Texas History Meet
If you live in Austin, TX, or anywhere in the Hill Country, you know the deep connection Texans have with the land. We’re surrounded by wildlife, ranch culture, and materials that carry real grit and grace.
At ATX Antlers, our work reflects that landscape — blending organic forms with contemporary design, rooted in heritage but built for modern spaces.
Sustainability with Soul
We believe in working with what already exists. Using vintage antlers means we're not disrupting ecosystems or chasing trends. We're celebrating what’s been left behind — and proving that with the right hands and heart, even the forgotten can become unforgettable.
Each piece of ATX Antlers art is one-of-a-kind, ethically sourced, and rich with natural history.
Own a Piece of the Past — Reinvented
Our pieces aren’t just art. They’re stories you can hang, display, and live with.
When you bring home a work from ATX Antlers, you’re not just adding something beautiful to your space — you’re connecting to the land, the past, and the craft.
